Who We Are

OUR FIRM

Guardian Retirement Group, LLC

In 1990 I started helping people with their Medicare options. This grew into much more and by the late 90’s, I had become a full-blown investment advisor where I helped people with their full retirement needs. Many of my clients back then were of a generation that had retired with full pensions. Their financial lives were simple compared to what we see today.

Fast forwarding to modern times and we’re seeing an entirely new form of retirement with a new set of challenges. In 2016, I made the decision to move my practice to Houston Texas so I could serve a bigger market. Then in 2020 we were forced to go to an online only platform, and while it presented challenges early on, it eventually proved to be a very positive development.

We’re now almost exclusively online, which allows us to serve clients in multiple states. This has been a tremendously enjoyable and rewarding experience for us.  We are now able to bring a level of expertise and focus to clients all across the country, thereby enabling them to enjoy planning strategies that may not have otherwise been readily available in their local geographical market.

The plans we design are specifically structured to limit downside stock market volatility, while providing stable income and preservation of principal.

Retirement Income Specialist

Founder / President
Guardian Retirement Group, LLC

"My passion is in client education and helping retirees make confident decisions."

I am a retirement planning specialist who doesn't always use conventional strategies. For the past 33 years I have used my vast experience, knowledge, and resources to help people avoid the worries that come from being unprepared for retirement. This is not only what I do but it is my passion.  I help people build and execute a viable plan for a safe and secure retirement, not just a plan, but a viable one.

You see, I'm finding many of the people I talk to today are not prepared for retirement, and it's not because they didn't save enough money.  Most of them have done exactly what the conventional financial wisdom of the last 40 years has advised. They've followed the rules and have done everything the way they were advised to do. The problem is that advice is decades out of date. It was designed for a pension-based retirement where income was automatic and guaranteed, and savings acted mainly as a back-up. What prevails today is very different. It's asset-based, such as savings in 401k’s and IRA’s where income needs to be created  directly from those savings, and it's neither automatic nor guaranteed.

This gives rise to several risks that used to not be there. For example, you now find yourself having to liquidate portions of your savings in order to create income while at the same time you're trying to preserve those savings. All the while things such as inflation, taxes, fees, market volatility, the order of the returns you receive, healthcare shocks, and more can all converge and ravage your accounts.  Add in a longer life expectancy and all of these things become multiplied.
There are just too many factors beyond your control, you don't even know what many of them are, and it’s impossible to know ahead of time what will happen in the market when you decide to retire.

Additionally, many of the rules of money you've been following your whole life may no longer apply.  They change when you enter this new phase.  Things such as averaged returns no longer matter much.  It's not the average , but the order those returns come that matters.  In short, there are the risks you've always known, but now there are new ones you haven't considered, or even imagined. All of this adds up to an important discovery - Planning AT retirement is very different than planning for retirement.  The only thing that is certain today is that using outdated strategies can and will devastate your plans for retirement.

Most financial professionals seem to focus their efforts on the accumulation phase with little thought to the distribution phase. My focus is helping people in both, but with  a particular focus on the latter. Regardless of what age you are, or when you want to retire, I’ll help you create a reliable income from the money you’ve saved, while at the same time making sure that your funds are still accumulating and can be restored. Together we’ll optimize your assets while mitigating those threats mentioned above so you can just enjoy retirement.
